This small mask carved from wood is called a passport mask. They were traditionally carried around by the Dan People, kept in a leather pouch and are often miniature copies of a family mask, which used to be used as a form of identification. They were aslo often shown off to honor important visitors to the village. Most masks are carved to be similar to a specific family member or person of honor. When leaving the village to hunt or travel, they would carry passport masks as protective charms.
The passport mask functioned as proof of one's position within it, which was useful when traveling to other villages. In time, passport masks became a form of tribal identification, each culture with their own distinct styles.
Each mask is different. Comes with optional display stand.

In-stock items ship within 2-4 working days.
In the event that an item is out of stock the lead time for dispatch will then be between 1 - 3 weeks - you will be notified within 24hrs via email if this is the case.
South Africa - The Courier Guy 2 -3 days for delivery from dispatch date.
International orders are dispatched with Fedex and EMS courier. You will be able to select the choice of shipper in the check out cart.
Fedex delivery is 7-9 working days, EMS is currently 25-35 working days.
These shipping times are an approximation and can vary.

If for any reason you are unhappy, you may return your item at your expense for a full refund within 7 days of receipt. All returns must be shipped back to us, and we must receive them in as-new condition.
